Sixth graders at Blue Ridge Middle School who participated in the One to the World Project “What WE Do Matters” collected 1,348 items for Project Mobile Hope.
The students kicked off the project back in December when they read Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” and used that has a springboard for discussions on the theme of homelessness. When the students returned from the December holiday, parent liaison Mrs. Bucci spoke to all of the 6th grade English classes about precariously housed and food insecure children in our county.
The sixth graders chose how they wanted to inform the 7th and 8th graders at the school about our precariously housed and food insecure population in Loudoun. Students created Google Slides, videos, posters, and spoke to homerooms to raise awareness and to solicit donations (diapers/wipes, nonperishable food, toiletries) for Project Mobile Hope.
