Friday, March 4, marked the first day of the 2016 tour season for The Marshall House, the restored museum home of General George C. Marshall and his wife Katherine, in Leesburg. This year, The Marshall House has added Friday public tour hours. The museum is currently open Friday 1pm to 5pm, Saturday 10am to 5pm, and Sunday 1pm to 5pm. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the house will also open Monday 1pm to 5pm. Last tours begin at 4pm.
Art by the late Washington area painter, Sherry Zvares Sanabria, is being highlighted in her memory. Sanabria's paintings, Marshall Chair and Marshall Desk, both acrylic on museum board, were donated to The George C. Marshall International Center by her family in 2015. They are on display in the Haub Exhibit Room of the Marshall House through Memorial Day.
Also in the Haub Exhibit Room is a new exhibit, 70 Years Later: Time and the Postwar Era. The exhibit features covers of many 1946 Time magazine issues, including textual context and back cover ads, highlighting post-war America 70 years ago.
